Dyana Weissman is usually not a fan of sans serif typefaces, but on a trip to Norway she was inspired by the labels on old medicine bottles she saw on display in a museum. With their robust personality, the letters on these labels inspired Weissman and convinced her to give sans a Starting from mostly uppercase sources in one style, she stretched the idea into a larger range of weights and widths. Designed in captivity, Firdevs stands alone: Fevzi wrote, “I can easily claim that I have not been affected, more broadly even not inspired, from any font while I was designing Firdevs.” It functions extremely well as a display face yet maintains readability at smaller sizes.
